Precicast, a precision castings production company in Switzerland, discovered that it was exceeding the regulatory limit on VOC emissions. Ethanol, found in solvent-based ceramic slurries used in the mold making process, was evaporating in thedrying rooms. While the exhaust concentration of ethanol was low, it did exceed the regulatory limit of 26 ppmv (50 mg/m{sub}3).
