An excerpt from 'The boys, or waiting for the electrician's daughter'

John Terpstra and his wife, Mary Ann, returned to New Jersey from Canada to live with her family during what turned out to be the last year of her brother's lives. All three were born with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The events described in the story took place in the late 1970's. John is a Hamilton, Ontario cabinetmaker and writer of non-fiction and poetry. His most recent publication is the collection of poetry, Brilliant Falls.
