SPEECH AT OPENING CEREMONY OF BIO-PIXE SYMPOSIUM

First all, I want to express my hearty thanks to Prof. Hu and his collaborators in China for organizing this international symposium. Four years ago, the first International Symposium on Bio-PIXE was held in Sendai in Japan, and at that time, Prof. Calull of California University accepted to organize the second Bio-PIXE Symposium in California. However, despite his effort, he could not realize it because of some difficulties. So that, I asked to Prof. Hu to organize it, and he accepted it 2 years ago. Since then, he has made very big efforts to realize it. He had suffered from many difficulties, especially the financial problem coming from inflation in this country. I cordially appreciate the huge effect of Prof. Hu and his collaborator's for overcoming these difficulties, and I do hope that the symposium would be quite successful by collaboration and contribution of all the participants here.
