摘要

Zinc aluminum alloys are being used extensively as bearing material and also in die casting. The present evaluation is aimed at producing ZA-27 -gypsum particulate metal matrix by stir casting method. Gypsum content in composites was varied by from 0.6% to 1% by weight in steps of 0.2%. As cast by keeping 2% zircon as constant composites were studied extensively to assess the wear characterstics using a pin on disc machine under dry conditions. The influence of speed and load on the wear rate shows that the increase in the percentage of gypsum has decreased the frictional force and coefficient of friction.
