As an occupational medicine physician who has been immersed in the federal workers' compensation system for over a dozen years, in several different roles, I read Dr. LaDou's overview with great interest.11 strongly agree that there is a lack of accountability within many federal agencies, and that this problem is perpetuated by a Congress willing to continually increase appropriations for uncontrolled workers' compensation program budgets.
