摘要

The homopolymer of 4-Chloro (phenyl) maleimide (N-PCPMI) was prepared by free radical polymerization at 70°C using Tetrahydrofuran (THF) as a solvent and Benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as a free radical initiator. Homopolymer was characterized by density measurement, intrinsic viscosity, solubility test, FT-IR, ~1H-NMR spectral analysis. Variations in yield based on solvent, free radical initiator and time was also studied. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) characterizes the thermal behaviour of polymers and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) was done for the determination of number average molecular weight and polydispersity index.
