Experimental and numerical analysis of blanking for thin sheet metal parts

摘要

The present paper proposes an experimental and numerical study of the blanking process for sheet metal parts with thickness 0.2 mm. Firstly, an experimental blanking apparatus is described. The measurement of the load-penetration curve for the punch is achieved. Theses curves are analysed by comparison with the cut edge geometry. The displacement field through the thickness is examined in situ using a CCD camera. The three main phases of blanking are clearly observed, the elastic phase, the shear phase and the fracture phase. The Secondly, the strategy adopted for the simulation is presented. The numerical simulation of the blanking process is realised using the FEM code POLYFORM developed in our laboratory.
