Psycho-educational therapy is a treatment modality that integrates psychotherapeutic and educational intervention (Lukens and McFarlane, 2004). It is an intervention that has positive effects for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy (Rawl et al, 2002). A randomised controlled trial (RCT) showed that a self-administered stress-management package-consisting of information and instructions to cope with chemotherapy, relaxation techniques and also a coping self-statement shown in a video-significantly increased the psychological status and quality of life of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy (Jacobsen et al, 2002).
