Student attrition remains a hotly debated topic and was explored in issue BJN this year (MacCallum, 2012). I am currently in my second year of a 2-year preregistration postgraduate nursing diploma at the University of Sheffield and have noticed the University is not struggling with attrition the way others seem to be. A cohort of 20 students, including myself, commenced training in November 2010 and to date, all 20 of us are 'still standing'. In fact, we are now 21 as a student who had previously deferred joined us at the beginning of this year.
