EFFECT OF ZINC SUPPLEMENTATION ON SERUM CONCENTRATION OF CALCIUM, INORGANIC PHOSPHORUS AND ZINC IN BROILER CHICKS

One hundred and twenty day-old Hubbard broiler chicks of uniform body weight were divided into T_1, T_2,groups consisting of 30 chicks in lach. There were three replicates in each group and their feed was supplemented with 40, 60, 80 and 100 ppm of zinc in the form of zinc oxide for T_1, T_2, T_3 and T_4 groups, respectively. The study period was 42 days,out of which standard starter diet was supplied up to 28 days followed by finisher diet till the end of experiment. The present study revealed non-significant effect of various levels of dietary zinc supplement on serum concentration of inorganic phosphorus, while serum zinc showed significantly higher concentrations (P<0.01) in T_2, T_3 and T_4 compared to T, and serum calcium showed significantly higher concentration (P<0.01) in T_3 and T_4 compared to T_2 group.
