INCIDENCE OF COCCIDIOSIS AND STRONGYEOIDOSIS IN FRUIT BATS

The documentations on parasitic fauna in species belonging to mega-chiroptera like fruit bats - the study animals, are very rare. An interesting case of coccidial infection was encountered and incidence is reported here. Random collections of faecal samples (25nos.) were carried out at Chennai, using hygienic techniques and fallen samples were examined by McMaster method and parasitic eggs were identified using standard techniques. This study was carried out from January - August 2000.
