Intravenous therapy: duty of care and liability.

摘要

This article considers the law which applies when the parents of patients are asked to be involved in the treatment of their children. The instruction and information to be given to parents before they undertake the activity of giving intravenous therapy to their children is considered. The legal significance of so-called disclaimer forms used to exempt the NHS trust or primary care trust from liability if anything untoward occurs to the child is also considered. The possibility of parents obtaining compensation for post-traumatic stress disorder is also considered.
