摘要

By and large, nurses enter into their profession because they want to help people (Royal College of Nursing (RCN), 2015). However, no matter how caring, compassionate and well-intentioned nurses are, their personal background, upbringing, education, culture, religion, and even age and gender, will factor into their character, worldview and the way they believe that work and patients should be approached. Ethical dilemmas are not uncommon in health care. Awareness of personal beliefs, how they affect work situations and how they may potentially affect the way a nurse views a patient, or the patient's condition and care, is paramount.
