The role of national occupational standards in UK aromatherapy education and training

Government-recognised educational standards for aromatherapy have been in place in the UK since 1998. Aromatherapy was one of the first complementary therapies to go forward under the National Standards programme - the Government's policy to put lifelong learning at the heart of education - which was designed as part of the move towards a range of national occupational standards and qualifications that are complementary to, yet distinct from, academic qualifications.
