Changes to New Zealand's securities laws

This article highlights briefly some key recent and proposed changes that are part of the New Zealand Government's comprehensive review of New Zealand's securities laws. That review 15 now well under way and aims: · to align New Zealand's securities laws more closely with Australian laws and international best practice; and · to establish a robust and effective regulatory framework to increase confidence and participation in the New Zealand securities market. The Takeovers Code 2001, the Securities Markets and Institutions Bill, the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZSE) Restructuring Bill and proposed changes to the New Zealand Stock Exchange Listing Rules contain the key changes. The Bills and the proposed Listing Rules are not yet finalised They may change before this article is publishid.
