Narrative techniques combined with psychoanalytically oriented exploration of groupprocesses can enhance the training of mental health professionals. This paper dem-onstrates their implementation in multicultural training. It is suggested that a studygroup can become a "resonant box" – a transitional space where experiences ofimmigrants, as conveyed in their narratives, meet the reactions of the listeners andtogether create the "sound" of the narrative. Narratives may resonate in contents aswell as in processes: in the thoughts and emotions that students express, in theirunconscious reactions and resistances as well as in unconscious group processes.When recognized and explored these contents and processes may become a source ofinsight into the experiences of the narrator.
