摘要

Localization of antimicrobial compounds from Psidium guajava methanol leaf extracts were one of the simplest methods to identify the position of active chemical constituents that were able to inhibit the growth of plant pathogenic bacteria. It involved the application of small amount of diluted methanol crude extract over thin layer chromatography (TLC) plate, developed with hexane : ethyl acetate (7 : 3) and layered with standardized bacterial suspension for antimicrobial activity assay. The bands showed antibacterial activity at R_f values 0.63, 0.85 and 0.98 for all tested plant pathogenic bacteria which indicates the presence of active chemical constituents of P. guajava methanol leaf extracts.
