Going Heavy Duty: about NARSA shops who are going the distance

In an effort to increase the professionalism and technical abilities of heavy-duty radiator repair shops and technicians, NARSA has made it a priority since 2003 to bring its members the Heavy-Duty Radiator Repair Certification Program. The program brings standardization to the industry and a reassurance of quality care to consumers in much the same way that ASE certification brought it to the automotive industry. In fact, everyone involved hopes that obtaining NARSA HD Certification will become the preferred method for meeting high HD-repair standards and remaining compliant. The certification process is two-fold. First the shop must be shown to have the requisite time in the HD industry, shop equipment, appropriate levels of insurance, and a current business license. The next step is to certify a shop technician. This can be the shop owner and requires the applicant to prove a minimum of one year's experience in HD radiator repair and to take the certification test. After this is accomplished, the shop and technician receive NARSA HD certification documentation along with all the rights and obligations afforded by the program.
