The formation of surface bleeds in twin roll cast aluminum sheet

摘要

Surface bleeds have been identified as a major defect in twin roll cast aluminum sheet. A detailed investigation of the occurrence of this defect has been undertaken. It is found that high casting speeds / low casting loads, thin strip thickness and alloys with freezing ranges ～ 10-30 ℃ and reasonable amounts of liquid present prior to the completion of solidification promote the formation of surface bleeds.
