摘要

This paper introduces a new topology for single phase AC-DC-AC converter which is used in single phase adjustable speed drives is presented. The proposed converter consists of two stages; a controlled rectifier converting AC supply to DC supply and a multilevel inverter converting DC supply to AC supply cascaded to the rectifier. Multilevel inverter is preferred for the proposed system, since it increases the number of output voltage level and hence the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is reduced. Thus the single phase induction motor drive is fed with less harmonic AC voltage which will increase the overall efficiency of the system. For a Single Phase Induction Motor drive, the auxiliary winding is connected to inverter; voltage of the same can be adjusted using the principle of Direct Phase Angle (DPA) control by giving feedback control signals to the rectifier by means of a perfectly tuned PID controller. The Performance of the single phase induction machine under different operating conditions is presented. Overall system is simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
