US Q2 growth rate revised up to 1.7%

The US economy fared slightly better than initially thought during the April to June 2012 quarter. The Commerce Department said that GDP grew at a 1.7% annual rate, due to stronger export growth balancing a reduction in inventory by businesses wary of slow domestic demand. The growth rate was up from the governments initial estimate of 1.5% growth and in line with economists expectations.
