A high-power short-pulse modulator with low plateau irregularity

摘要

A pulsed modulator for energizing magnetrons used in elementary particle accelerators and radars is described. The modulator features a pulse voltage of 15-17 kV; a pulse current of 12-17 A; ～0.2% pulse plateau irregularity; and a pulse repetition rate of 2 and 8 kHz at a 0.4-μs pulse duration and 12 kHz at a 0.25-μs pulse duration. The low pulse plateau irregularity is achieved using passive RL-correction when the modulator tubeГМИ-42Б operates under augmented power conditions.
