The Treasury Department report that was issued last Friday (April 12) on international economic and exchange rate policies highlights an increase in China's intervention in foreign exchange markets, although it once again declines to name Beijing or any other trading partner as a "currency manipulator." In much tougher language than included in previous reports, Treasury also warns Japan against pursuing currency policies that would give its exports an unfair advantage.
