Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said last week the current Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement will not be taken up by the Senate this year, noting that the deal has serious flaws that can be fixed by the next administration. "So TPA - Trade Promotion Authority - is in place for the next president whoever that may be and the current agreement, the Trans-Pacific agreement, which has some serious flaws, will not be acted upon this year," McConnell said on Aug. 25 remarks at Kentucky State Farm Bureau Ham Breakfast. "But it will still be around, it can massaged, changed, worked on during the next administration. So I hope America will stay in the trade business and to do that its going to have to be done on the bipartisan basis."
