Syphilitic aneurysm eroding the chest wall.

A 49-year-old man was admitted with, a large pulsatile swelling of the chest and neck. Serology for syphilis was positive. Computed tomographic scan showed aneurysm of the ascending aorta and innominate artery, eroding chest wall and the neck (figure 1). An angiogram detected a saccular aneurysm of the ascending aorta and innominate artery (figure 2). The aneurysm was repaired under cardio-pulmonary bypass and total circulatory arrest.
