Dynamically add hyperlinks to your text objects, part 2: Using AutoLISP

Do you ever need to add hyperlinks to text objects in your AutoCAD drawing? Perhaps the text object has a corresponding text file on yourcompanywebsite or Intranet. Adding the correct hyperlinks to the specific text objects would take a long time. In the article "Dynamically add hyperlinks to text objects, part 1: Using VBA" in the September 2005 issue, we showed you how to create such a program in VBA; this month we'll show youhow to create the same program in AutoLISP. In this article, we'll create a simple AutoLISP program that allows you to enter a hyperlink path, select specific text objects or select all text objects in the drawing, and hyperlink them to their corresponding text files. First, we'll define what the program operation does, and then we'll show you how to create the dialog box using DCL. Next, we'll explain how to create the AutoLISP code for the program. Finally, we'll discuss how to use the program in AutoCAD.
