Save time by automating the layout of 3-D models in viewports

Floating viewports are essential to 3-D drawings. In fact, they were developed explicitly for laying out 3-D drawings. However, setting up the viewports and views can be complex, especially if you need to show several views. In the May 2005 issue, we started our discussion of floating viewports in the article "Create perfect layouts with paper space viewports." In the July 2005 issue, we expanded on the topic of viewports with "Customize your floating viewports for greater usability." In this article, well move into techniques that help you automate the process of creating views for your 3-D solid models. Specifically, we'll explain how to use three commands that work exclusively with 3-D solids: SOLPROF, SOLVIEW, and SOLDRAW commands.
