Enhancing AutoLISP programs with DCL programming: part I

As an AutoCAD user, you've probably saved yourself a lot of time by writing AutoLISP programs that automate various tasks. But as you may have noticed from the numerous AutoLISP programs that we've featured in Inside AutoCAD, you can add even more functionality to a program by adding your own custom dialog box. To do this, you need to create the dialog box using the Dialog Control Language (DCL) and then incorporate it into the AutoLISP program. In this first part of a two-part series, we'll introduce you to DCL programming by using it to define the dialog box shown in Figure A. Then, in part two, we'll show you how to incorporate the DCL code into a sample AutoLISP program.
