Toronto-based rare earths processor AMR Technologies Inc. has signed three agreements with Singaporean government and academic institutions worth approximately 2.1m S dollars. (1.2m US dollars.) to fund new nanotechnology as well as other related rare earth and zirconium research initiatives. "AMR is a world leader in the commercialisation of nanotechnology research as it applies to rare earth and zirconia-based materials," said AMR's executive vice president and chief operating officer, Constantine Karayannopoulos. "Our goal is to focus the combination of these resources on near-term, scalable commercial opportunities where AMR has an established presence and a proven track record of profitability."
