Ceramics on show/Exhibition overkill?

For the long suffering exhibition representatives of companies keen to have a presence in the Asia-Pacific market, mid-1996 was to be a long, hot, drawn out affair. In addition to the above exhibitions, the Asian ceramics roadshow also included Ceram Japan '96 in Nagoya on 22-25 May. Meanwhile, back in Europe, although Cevisama '96 took place in Valencia, Spain, on 5-9 March, ceramic players (in some cases recovering from recent Asian excesses) are having to come to terms with an impending Autumn of ceramic fair overkill, with Tecnargilla '96 in Verona, Italy on 27 September - 1 October, unhelpfully adjacent to Interceramex '96, in Birmingham, UK on 1 - 4 October. As Charles Wallin, Editor of Global Ceramic Review stated in his Comment of Issue 5/95 entitled "Long shot: Short Sighted", "The scheduling of European ceramic supply exhibitions stands in some disarray." And, "Someone has forgotten who are the customers here".
