Fgs. 1 and 2, respectively, show a tray load and basket load of parts at the charge door of a carburizing furnace. The company coats and seals all working surfaces in their furnaces, including refractory linings, with thin film ceramic coatings. The coatings (CETEK~(TM)) are fully bonded to the meial and refractory surfaces and become an integral part of their structures (see Fig. 3). They form dense non-wetting surfaces that provide long-term protection to the metal substrates. Coatings are designed to expand and contract with the substrate metal and are unaffected by thermal cycling. Thermal conductivity, especially important for effective operation of the heating tubes (Fig. 4), continues to maintain furnace temperatures to meet original specifications at rates gas flow. The coatings improve the emissivity of the substrate material (see Fig. 5).
