Proximal and mid cervical oesophageal obstructions have been reported in cattle due to ingestion of mango seeds, potato, brinjal or clothes and even stones (Frank, 1981; Dilipkumar et al., 1995; Umakanthan, 1995; Shivaprakash et al, 1998). A 5-yr-oldbullock was reported at TVCC, Nagpur with a history of inappetance, and absence of defaecation and urination for last two days and suspicion of ingestion of foreign object. Clinical sign included normal temperature (100.5°F), regurgitation of ingesta through nostrils and salivation. Moderate tympany was also evident. Clinical examination revealed a swelling due to a palpable non moving round object at the left ventrolateral mid cervical region and the condition was diagnosed as oesophageal choke (Fig.1).
