Pomegranate is generally propagated by cuttings. Hardwood stem cuttings of most of the pomegranate cultivars root easily and give rise to new plants. However, some cultivars are difficult-to-root. Auxin alone and in combination with phenolic compoundslike p-hydroxybenzoic acid (PHB), which act as auxin synergists, are increasingly being found effective in root initiation of hard-to-root plant species (Debnath et al., 4). Hence, IBA and PHB were tried for quicker multiplication of some pomegranate cultivars.
