Correlation studies in capsicum X chilli crosses and parents

Chilli is an important vegetable and spice crop grown all over India. Information regarding association of characters like growth, yield and its component traits and quality traits is very useful for the plant breeder in developing commercially viable variety or hybrid. Association of per se performance with combining ability effects can be of greater help in culling down large number of inferior lines to be used in crossing programme. An attempt was made in the present investigation to study the association of different traits based on per se observation and to ascertain the relation between per se performance of parents with their general combining ability effects and per se performance of crosses with their specific combining ability effects forgrowth, yield and quality characters in some capsicum X chilli crosses and their parents.
