In the last year or so, our company has been involved in investigating dozens of oil spill claims. The fact that we've gotten involved means that the claim was serious enough for the homeowner's insurance company to commence action against the oil delivery company.On one hand, it seems that insurance companies are spending a significant amount of time and money in an attempt to put the blame for oil spills on the company that delivers oil to the tank, regardless of the facts. On the other hand, it seems that some people in our industry haven't gotten the message that they can't continue to do business as usual and simply assume that the tank is the customer's responsibility and not their concern.
