More than 20 years after the very first Lexus LS400 limousines rolled inexorably on to UK shores, Toyota's premium automotive brand is still struggling to find traction over here. In a European market where the biggest premium players win more than four per cent of the pie each, Lexus earned just two-tenths of one per cent of it last year. The CT200h luxury hybrid hatchback maybe slowly doing its bit for Lexus's European growth, but in order to make faster progress, the brand's decision makers could do a lot worse than to simplify its strategy and give its customers what they're asking for.
