LEXUS IS TRYING hard to make the RX an eco-SUV. The regular petrol version of this revised RX has gone; for now at least, the four-wheel-drive hybrid model is the only choice for UK buyers. Under the bonnet you get a larger engine (3.5 litres, up from 3.3), and the hybrid tech has been tweaked to give a combined output of 291bhp. There is a minor penalty in fuel economy for this power hike, though. The 450h returns 27mpg on America's combined cycle; that equates to 32.4mpg in the UK, down from the 400h's 34.9mpg.
