摘要

Casting quality depends on dimensional accuracy, surface finish and mechanical properties. These properties are influenced not only by the metal cast, but also by the moulding process. Carbon-dioxide gas moulding is a near-net-shape process and is superior to conventional sand moulding using green sand in many ways. Its main advantage is that it eliminates the need for drying or baking of moulds and cores. It also gives a better surface finish to the casting. In this paper multi-character optimisation is done using grey relational analysis based on Taguchi method. The concept is used for optimising the parameters like pressure, time and proportion of sodium silicate considering the multiple characteristics including hardness, green compressive strength, permeability and shatter index.
