Two field experiments were conducted during Kharif 2012 and Rabi 2013 at Eastern farm of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru College of Agriculture and Research Institute (PAJANCOA & RI) to evaluate the bioefficacy of Bifenthrin 8 SC against the shoot and fruit borer, Earias vittella in okra. Experiment was laid out in a randomized block design (RBD) with three replications and ten treatments namely bifenthrin 8 SC @ 200, 160, 140, 120, 100, 80 and 60 g a.i. /ha, cypermethrin 10 EC @ 70 g a.i. /ha and dicofol 18.5 EC @ 500 g a.i. /ha as standard checks along with untreated check. Four sprays of bifenthrin 8 SC @ 200 g a.i. /ha was effective with the lowest mean per cent damage of 1.1 and 1.2 per cent on shoot basis, 9.44 and 7.0 per cent on number basis and 7.0and 4.9 per cent on weight basis in Kharif and Rabi season, respectively followed by bifenthrin 8 SC @ 160, 140 and 120 g a.i. /ha. The highest marketable yield of 6.9 and 10.0 t/ha was recorded in case of bifenthrin 8 SC @ 200 g a.i. /ha followed by 160 g a.i. /ha (6.7 and 9.9), 140 g a.i. /ha (6.7 and 9.8) and 120 g a.i. /ha (6.7 and 9.8) g a.i. /ha compared to the untreated check (4.5 and 5.0) during Kharif and Rabi, respectively.
