Afield experiment was conducted for two seasons (2009-10 and 2010-11) to evaluate the bioefficacy of a new anthranilicdiamide, cyantraniliprole (Cyazypyr) against Helicoverpa armigera Hubner infesting tomato, and its safety to the coccinellid predatorThe results revealed that significantly lowest larval population of (0.3-0.4) and (0.5) H. armigera per 5 plants at 7 days after spraying (DAS) was recorded in the treatments cyantraniliprole (HGW86) 10% OD @ 90 & 105 g a.i./ha, with 85.8-89.6 and 84.4-85.9 % reduction in larval population over untreated control in 2009-10 and 2010-11, respectively. The pooled data on per cent fruit damage by H. armigera showed a reduction of 3.0-3.1 with 85.5-86.3% reduction on number basis and 3.2-3.4 with 84.8-85.3%reduction on weight basis over control in the treatments cyantraniliprole (HGW86) 10% OD @ 90 & 105 g a.i./ha, respectively which is significantly superior to other treatments. The predatory coccinellid population did not differ significantly from thatof untreated control during post application period indicating safety of cyantraniliprole at tested doses. The mean marketable tomato fruit yield was the highest (16.3-16.6 t/ha) in treatments of cyantraniliprole (HGW86) 10% OD @ 90 and 105 g a.i./ha with an increase of48.9-52.5% over untreated control.
