摘要

This experiment was conducted to provide information in support of plant establishment for developmental activities of World Bank aided Integrated Watershed Development Project (IWDP). Four tree planting methods were assessed: staggered trench, crescent method, continuous contour 'V' ditch, and the simple pit method (control). Trees used in the experiment were: Melia azadirachta [Azadirachta indica] L.; Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr. [Albizia saman], Cassia siamea Lam., Bambusa spp., and Pongamia pinnata (L.) Pierre. Compared to the control, all the planting methods resulted in taller and thicker plants: the continuous contour V' ditch registering the greatest stalk volumes -attributed to favourable soil water contents.
