摘要

The ethanol extract of the algae showed promising antifungal activity against Candida albicans (MIC 125mcg/ml_), Ctyptococcus neoformans (MIC 125mcg/mL), Sporotrichum schenckii (MIC 62.5mcg/mL), Trichophyton mentagrophytes (MIC 62.5mcg/mL), Aspergillus fumigatus (MIC 62.5mcg/mL). On fractionation of the ethanol extract, the activity was localised in ethyl acetate soluble fraction (MIC 31.2mcg/mL) against A. fumigatus, (MIC 31.2mcg/mL) against Cryptococcus neoformans, (MIC 62.5mcg/mL) against Sporotrichum schenckii, (MIC 15.8mcg/mL) against Trichophyton mentagrophytes ,(MIC 62.5mcg/mL) against Candida albicans. In vivo evaluation of the fraction in multi-infection fungal model in Swiss albino mice provided 60% protection at 50 mg/kg p.o. with reduced cfu (3 log _10). Out of three isolated pure compounds, the two pure compounds isolated from these fractions showed activity in in vitro testing against Aspergillus fumigatus.
