Self Regulated Hygienic Milk Production for Augmenting Rural Prosperity

The increasing affluence in the country is creating new and growing markets for milk and milk products. Wide range of programmes for helping marginal and disadvantaged rural families have been launched by the Central and State governments to generatejobs and incomes and to eliminate poverty and hunger. The single challenge of these programmes is to link the millions of small milk producers to dairy processing and marketing units and subsequently scale up necessary interventions for higher milk production. The small and marginal farmers, the landless and the distressed women derive a great deal of socio-economic upliftment through dairying. Cattle and buffaloes are endowments of property, possession and profession of the rural families. Animals areused as readily available tradeable commodity and convertible currency. They are regarded as a reliable financial resource to meet the unforeseen needs of the rural masses.
