Synthesis of thienospiran derivatives and studies of regioselectivity in Friedel-Crafts acylation reaction

Syntheses of several spiro[benzo[b]thiophen-6(5H),1'-cycloalkan]-4(7H)-ones (Type A) and spiro[benzo[b]thiophen-5,1'-cycloalkan]-4-(5H)-ones (Type B) and their 2-alkyl derivatives are described.
