A convenient and simple transformation of acylhydrazones to diacylhydrazines employing m-chloroperbenzoic acid under solid state conditions

Oxidation of 2-methyl/2-trifluoromethyl-1,8-naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid arylidenehydrazides (acylhydrazones) 2 with m-chloroperbenzoic acid (m-CPBA) in the solid state provides a facile method for the synthesis of N-aroyl-N'-(2-methyl/2-triflucromethyl-1,8-naphthyridine-3-carbonyl)hydrazines 4. The yields are good to excellent and purity is high.
