摘要

Rice, which has been cultivated in Japan for about 2,000 years, is the staple food in a traditional Japanese diet. Seasonal vegetables and marine products have long been eaten as accompaniment to rice. Most dishes are seasoned with miso or soy sauce, both of which are made by fermenting soybeans. Buddhism has also influenced the traditional Japanese lifestyle with its prohibition on the consumption of meat Tofu, which is made from soybeans, and whole-grain rice have been important sources of protein for many centuries.
