Effectiveness of ICT-Enabled Village Information Centres in Improving Knowledge Level of Dairy Farmers in Tamil Nadu

The present study was carried out on 180 dairy farmers selected from three types of ICT-enabled Village Information Centres initiatives in Tamil Nadu to ascertain knowledge level of dairy farming and factor associated with it. The study revealed thattotal knowledge score of 0.69 was gained by the respondents: of that, 85.51 per cent of knowledge score was gained only through VICs and remaining 14.49 per cent from other sources. MSSRF respondents had low level of knowledge score (0.56) when comparedto the knowledge score (0.80 and 0.70) of TANUVAS and n-Logue communication respondents, respectively. Correlation analysis further highlights that time of using VICs, distance covered to access VICs, credibility, mass media exposure and extension agencycontact had significant and positive relationship with the knowledge of dairy farmers. However, gender of respondents was found to have significant but negative correlation with knowledge level on dairy farming.
