Far too may beginners 'start keeping bees' without adequate preparation. In these pages, and elsewhere, I have kep on repeating, for the past score of years now, that beekeeping is NOT difficult, but it is an industry requiring technical knowledge and practical skill and has, therefore, to be LEARNT like any other industry. I find that this advice is not heeded. Those who wish to keepbees become so enthusiastic, almost overnight, that they brush aside all counsel which would postpone the day of their possessing a beehive. Some are-impatient of all advice. Many KNOW-ALLS think they know all about itand turn up their noses at bee books and journals. Manythink that there can be little to learnin beekeeping. These are mistaken notions, but the beginner learns this, to his cost, only when it is late.
