Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi traveled to Bali, Indonesia, to attend the ASEAN+3 Meeting from October 7 to 8. Prime Minister Koizumi delivered a speech at the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit on the morning of October 7, before holding talks with Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, and President Roh Moo Hyun of the Republic of Korea. During the summit meeting the leaders of the three nations confirmed that the development and deepening of their trilateralcooperation contributes to the peace, stability and prosperity of the East Asian region as a whole. They signed the "Joint Declaration on the Promotion of Tripartite Cooperation among Japan, the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Korea," which was the first joint declaration to be signed by the three leaders. This declaration contains close cooperation on a number of different areas, including a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula through dialogue, and the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
