摘要

As far as World Health Organization (WHO) consultations go, the "Consultation on AIDS and Human Resources for Health" I participated in May 11-12, 2006, on behalf of the International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care (IAPAC) was exceptional. Greeting us in the WHO's Executive Board Room was the WHO's Director-General, Lee Jong-wook, accompanied by Tim Evans and Anarfi AsamoaBaah, his Associate Director-Generals for the Evidence and Information for Policy (EIP) and HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (HTM) clusters, respectively. Their individual remarks and collective message were spare and to the point- "We face a crisis in human resources. The solution is not straightforward, and there is no consensus on how to proceed. We need your help."
